KK – The three young children in our home are here for daycare purposes while their parents work (not sure if I had made that clear or not). Our own two children are much older (10 and 13) and are homeschooled. I did wonder if the fact that I babysit these small children would have some effect on whether or not we would get a placement. I’ve also wondered if the parents of the ones I babysit in my home will be uncomfortable with the possibility of us having an infant/toddler from foster care here with their children. I don’t want to NOT get placements because I do daycare and I worry that space, beds for napping during the day, etc. will be an issue in the minds of the social workers. My husband and I have discussed me quitting this babysitting job entirely and our family just pursuing foster care in the hopes of adding to our own family. This would be a difficult decision as we’ve had all three of the daycare children since they were tiny, but adopting is something we feel the Lord is calling us to and that may be how it has to happen. It’s definitely true that, without the worry of three extra little ones in my home from 8-5 everyday, I would be much more able to leave the house for visits, etc. and wouldn’t have that as an added stress. So much to think about and so many decisions to be made 🙂 Thanks so much, everyone, for the replies and advice!
