Just trying again. I have tried everything under the sun: different browsers, retyping the entire thing from scratch (so no cutting pasting), deleting stuff to make it shorter… and it will absolutely NOT let me add my topic. Admin, is there any way I can email you what I wanted to post, and you post it for me, or see what on earth might be in it that’s preventing it? At this point, as much as I want the input, I’d just like to know WHY it won’t work.
So if I’m understanding correctly, everything is working fine creating a topic like this but not your other topic, right?
I’d like to try a few things:
1. You can e-mail your topic title and posting to me and I’ll test it. My e-mail is doug@simplychar… (You know the rest. Leaving it off so spammers don’t grab it.) Be sure to also let me know what forum topic area you tried to post in.
2. Did you see an error message when you tried to post? If so, e-mail the complete message to me as well.
3. Please visit this link, enter your name and e-mail, and my e-mail as the recipient. Click the button to send the details, which will collect some information about your browser, computer, and internet connection and send it over to me.
Thanks. I’ll do my best to figure out what is going on.
Yes, I can reply no problem, and I can post a small thread like this. I even tried posting my thread as a reply to the other topic, but it wouldn’t let me!
1. Thank you, I just did that. I tried posting it under General Charlotte Mason, Special Needs and I think even just Nature Study (just to see if it would work)
2. The error message is “Your topic cannot be created at this time”
No, didn’t work 🙁 It actually looked like it was going to post this time, and in fact brought me to the “normal” screen you see when you post a new thread, even the “This topic contains 0 replies” etc… but the screen shows completely blank, and then when I go into the forum, nothing was posted.
No problem at all! I discovered something we needed to fix, which is a good thing.
If you’re curious, we have a couple blacklists of words that are typically used in spam posts. We use those to cause posts to be either rejected or held for us to moderate. It turns out that one of the shorter spammy words we had listed is actually part of a larger legitimate word that’s pretty common.
