adding a weekly activity to the organizer?

I’d like to enter an activity that is done weekly, but not on any set day.  I’d like it to go off the plan when it is completed and reappear on the following Monday to be a reminder to do this each week.

Say, for instance, if I want a to read a poem each week as a family. I know I can enter this for MTWTF and it will show up each day and when I choose to do it, I can mark it completed.  But then it shows up again the next day – because that is how I scheduled it.  Now I know in my mind that I already did it – but I like to get things sort of crossed off the list for the week if that makes any sense.

Is there something I am missing in scheduling that would allow me to set it up like this?

BTW, this year I am really making use of the “use with” and “use after” feature, and it is really making the plan come together.  Especially with the ability to enter the ISBN to get the resource into the planner.  Now I am entering so many library books that we use for different topics, where before I was too lazy to enter them, and our records and plan are so much more complete.  The resources also aren’t being forgotten LOL.

    Thanks for any ideas,

Not to belabor this question, but I just thought of a good example to make what I am asking clearer.  On my todo list or calendar I can set up “recurrences”.  Like I could set it to recur each calendar week on Monday, and then it would appear on Monday and keep appearing till I check it off, then reappear on the next Monday.

Can I set up a recurrence like this with the organizer?

Good question and example, Gem. Currently, it’s not set up to do a recurrence unless you schedule it for every day of the week. I’m trying to think of a way you could add the resource to help you know whether you had already done the poem for that week. What if you entered the resource as “Poem of the Week” (or whatever), and gave it divisions called “Week.” Then you could even enter the calendar date as the “Title” of each division. So when the resource showed up on your Daily Plan, it would read something like “Poem of the Week: Week 1, September 13-17.” You could still add a note to the assignment, specifying which poem you read; but you would be able to tell at a glance whether you had already completed your poem for this week. If so, you could manually close that resource.

Not as slick as having a recurrence feature, but one possible idea, I hope.

Oh, if the developers could figure out a way to do that though, it would really work well for people that currently just do a weekly checklist…..

Thanks for the “week” idea for the organizer! We do our Nature Studies on Monday, so instead of just clicking on “worked on” every monday, I set up weeks like this: September, week 1; September, week 2; etc. Now I can add notes as to what we acutally did that day!  Like today, for instance, my girls found a baby mouse, observed it, read about it, fed it, named it, built a habitat for it, drew a picture of it… all by themselves.  Acutally it just turned out nicely that today happened to be Monday, our Nature Study day! I added the recurring idea to our CM Organizer wishlist.

While (whenever, if….) they work on the recourance idea, I’d like to have a number of times for it to recurr in the week….    So that, for instance, I want to read 2 Aesop Fables in the week, I could set the recurrance to 2 times, starting on Monday.   Say on Monday they read 1 fable, on Tuesday it would show the next one….  Say I didn’t read the 2nd one on Tuesday, on Wednesday it would show up.  On Wednesday we read it – Aesop doesn’t show up again until next Monday…..
