Hello,  new to CM, looking at putting together everything for next year. Looking at some of these blogs, I’m not sure my kids have the attention span. Robinson Crusoe and Treasure Island-I don’t think we’ll get through it all. Is abridge boooks OK? Recommendations? Youngest is 7, oldest is 11.

If you’re just starting off, there’s no reason you can’t choose  books you think your kids will enjoy and then bring in classic literature at a slower pace.  My son really enjoyed listening to/reading the How to Train Your Dragon series and did well listening to The Hobbit.  Even at 11, when I listened to Whinnie-the-Pooh with my youngest, my older son listened in with enjoyment–some stories are timeless.  I’ve also found the Little House books appealing read-alouds at all ages.  Start with something they’ll love to keep all of your excitement high.
