    Hey guys,

I have been using the organizer for 2 years and it is wonderful!! Thank you SCM crew for all that you do.

I have a question regarding how you guys order your chapters in a book that has over 40 chapters.

For instance my son is reading Pilgrims Progress in today’s English. It has 39 chapters so I put it in as 39 chapters. Easy but he read 17 chapters in one day. I don’t really want to sit there and push complete 17 times for one day.

He did that with another book he just finished that had many more chapters but finished it in two days. I am wondering if you guys would suggest putting in the divisions as chapters but 10 chapters at a time (lumping them together) So if a book had 60 chapters I would have 6 groups of chapters. Is this what you guys would do? Or is there another way to organize the book to make it easy to record that he read a particular book but I don’t really care about the date he read it on. But it would keep track just incase he didn’t read it as fast as others and it took him a week. Does this make sense?

Thanks for any imput you may have.

    Hi Shelly,

I have the same issue at times. What I do is enter my own resource w/ NO divisions. So, for example, I would enter the Pilgrim’s Progress book you mentioned under the add a resource link. Then for the divisions, I choose NONE. Then I schedule the book for MWF (or whatever). Then when it pops up, I click worked on each time (no regard to how much, just picking up where we left off) until we finish it and then I click finished. It still shows in our record as worked on each day, but without the specific chapters. I do this for all of our literature and the kids’ math (by chapter).

In fact, I’ve submitted a wish list request to allow you to either use the resource w/ the entered divisions or as a whole as I greatly prefer the whole option for most resources.

    HTH,

Oh that is a good idea. Maybe I will try that with the next book and see if I like it that way. Thanks.
