Brandy’s post was too on target not to give some accolades to here and it includes this most wonderful of Charlotte’s quotes too:

“The reader will say with truth, — “I knew all this before and have always acted more or less on these principles”; and I can only point to the unusual results we obtain through adhering not ‘more or less,’ but strictly to the principles and practices I have indicated. I suppose the difficulties are of the sort that Lister had to contend with; every surgeon knew that his instruments and appurtenances should be kept clean, but the saving of millions of lives has resulted from the adoption of the great surgeon’s antiseptic treatment; that is from the substitution of exact principles scrupulously applied for the rather casual ‘more or less’ methods of earlier days.”

Here is the link to Brandy’s post at Afterthoughts – it was a great reminder for me as the Spring grass turns greener and greener … over there … oh, and over there … 🙂

Thank you for sharing! Very good reminders, especially with “Spring Fever” hitting and all the excitement of next year becomes the topic of conversation

Consistency in the little things are what make the big matters things have real value.  I used to think that I needed to have all these big, hands on projects for our studies to “prove” that we were learning and to enrich our lessons which seemed too simple to actually “be school”, but have had enough time to learn, practice, and use CM methods (and conversations with our children) to realize that sometimes those projects actually backfire on the whole purpose. They will remember the project but not the why behind it. On the other hand, narration and conversation tend to have more sticking power for the lessons learned later on down the educational road.

I so appreciate the reminders to hold on to the simple things…the things that really are CM principles and methods. It is so EASY to get swayed by those green{ER} pastures. =) Then I read the blog posts from Sonya, Brandy, Jeannie, and others reminding me what my goals really are and I am content again in our choices.
