Dh took me along a business trip this week, and as we were walking along in a pedestrian mall I spotted a used book store.  Of course I wanted to go in (and he did too for that matter!)  When I got around to the children’s section I started scanning for old books.  There on the very top shelf was a complete set of My Book House from 1947.  He pulled a couple of volumes down & we stood there and oohed and ahhed over them.  Dh kept talking about the illustrations in them.  After a few minutes he said “it would be crazy not to take these home with us!”  So my sweet dh boutght that set (plus an old copy of Wild Animals I Have Known) for me.

I have already enjoyed reading to the kids today – my 17yo dd even read an old english poem by Chaucer out loud for us.  🙂

What an awesome find!  I am blessed to have a set from my mom when she was a child.  I did not realize the treasure I had until I decided to homeschool.

Congratulations, we love our set as well, even though I don’t have littles anymore. Linda

Awww, we are so blessed to have sweet husbands who “get it,” aren’t we?  Seems like so many moms tend to go this road alone, so I think it’s important when our husbands are right there with us, understanding that our bibliophilic (I think I just made up a word!) tendencies are for a good purpose and actually take part in them LOL.

Give him an extra smooch and remind him that he’s wonderful (which I’m sure you’ve doneWink) And extra kudos for including you in a trip!!

(okay, so that maybe was a litte gushy, but my own Darling just started a new job this week that’s taking him away for many hours each day, which I haven’t been used to in a while, so this story got me…thanks for sharing **sniff**)
