I found this last night flipping through a poetry picture book, thought you all would appreciate it – I’m going outside today, I have no field, but a garden will do nicely!
Out in the Fields With God
The little cares that fretted me, I lost them yesterday, Among the fields above the sea, Among the winds at play, Among the lowing of the herds, The rustling of the trees, Among the singing of the birds, The humming of the bees.
The foolish fears of what might pass, I cast of them all away, Among the clover-scented grass, Among the new-mown hay, Among the hushing of the corn, Where the drowsy poppies nod, Where ill thoughts die and good are born – out in the fields with God.
What a lovely poem! One of my favorite times of day is early morning when I’m going out to milk. The sun is just peeping over the trees (at least this time of year) and the birds are singing, the ducks are quacking, cattle are lowing. So peaceful…
I know if I just get myself outside for a few and sit in the swing I feel much better! It is just doing it! LOL Or gazing up at the stars at night. We are in the country so we can see lots of stars! It is a peaceful feeling!
I am visiting my mom right now and this poem describes the feelings I had when sipping my coffee on her back porch this morning. Nature certainly does help put life in perspective.
Thanks for sharing :o)
