It’s also sold elsewhere, but I found the most info there. It came in the mail today and while she has yet to see it, I think it’s going to be a hit. It’s sort of like a puzzle or a manipulative based workbook?? I can’t describe it well, but I think it will be helpful for a long while.
I also purchased some simple Kumon workbooks – cutting, folding, mazes and some spring loaded scissors for her to try. I think she’ll like having her own “school stuff”
I figured I’d share in case any of you is looking for a new idea.
Thanks for the idea! I have two 2.5 year olds and it is very hard to keep them occupied and happy while I’m working with my oldest. He loved the Kumon workbooks when he was that age and I think my younger two could do some of those too. I would love any other ideas for little ones that would keep them stationary – I cannot take my eyes of my little two – they are very mischievous these days, so I am trying to figure out what they can do close to us, but quiet and still….hmmmmm
I’ve never heard of spring loaded scissors! I bet my almost three year old would love that. Hmmm. Do I really want to give him scissors? I might have to pray about that. 😛
One of the best things I did was be part of an activity bag swap. This is how it works. One person is in charge, they buy the book/ebook $22/$15 and get 19 other moms of preschoolers to join the swap. The leader makes copies of the activities (all instructions are in the book) and the other moms pick an activity bag they want to make. Once you pick an activity, you make 20 identical bags. The goal is for each bag to cost $1.00 or less. The last one I made was called Alpha-Spoons. I wrote the upper and lower case letters on two sets of plastic spoons (52 per bag-do the math girls, I wrote on 1040 spoons!) and made a copy of the alphabet for each bag as well as instructions for use. Then, the leader hosts a night for the moms to bring their bags (usually a few weeks later). You put your name on a brown grocery sack and drop one of your bags into each grocery sack and the other moms do the same. If somebody can’t come that night they bring their stuff before the swap and somebody else passes their bags out. When you leave, you have 20 different bags full of preschool activities. I now have 40 bags after 2 swaps and we use a new one each week and our 4 year old uses them when I need time with our 7 year old. Age range would be 2-5 years though my 7 year old sometimes gets out the bag if it interests her (they love the one on magnetic items and one uses a magnifying glass). I LOVE these and it was easy to find 20 moms desperate for help entertaining their toddlers! Go to http://www.activitybags.com to see sample pages and for maybe a better description than I gave. These are reusable and have helped us a lot. I have even made copies of ones we love for my niece and friends kids who were looking for toddler ideas. You certainly do not have to homeschool to use and appreciate these, just have toddlers!
