The list does indeed look formidable. Since this is our first year homeschooling and mine are 7 and 8 it just gives me an idea of things to include. I like what a lot of your said about not teaching to a list, but at the same time using it as inspiration for high standards.

I printed this same list off last year and glance at it every now and then. It does seem formidable especially if you are just starting out. I would use it as a guide of things to cover with my six year old during that year. My daughter who turned 7 in August can do many of these and parts of others. She can sing one song in German not French, and probably only knows 4 birds and 2 flowers, but as I said, I used it as a guide.
Interesting.
