Do any of you have experience with this book? I know it is out of print and mentioned on Ambleside, and I have come across a good hardcover copy for $20. I am wondering if it is worth it? I have a limited budget for books (as we all probably do) and I don’t want to be wasteful. Is it a useful book? My kids are 8, 6 and 4. We are not doing a set geography plan right now as we are just discussing places as they pop up in our history studies. Any advice you could give would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!
We have it and use it, and really enjoy it. Some of it is a bit out of date, but those parts refer to “history” then also. I can post more tomorrow if no one else chimes in – trying to get kids to bed.
Hi, I haven’t forgotten about this. I have needed to stay mostly offline for a couple of days for my husband’s work reasons; also I have a houseful of sick children.
I know that Ann Voskamp used that book as an inspiration to write her wonderful “A Child’s Geography” books. She loved the Hillyer’s book, but must of the information was outdated. Our family has loved these books! You can find them here;
Thank you all for your input! I plan now to order the Voskamp book and pass on the Hilyer book. I am able to get the Voskamp book for aroung $12 new at Amazon!!
Thanks again everyone!!
