I would love to hear any feedback about this book. It is the last book I need to purchase for our school year and it is kind of pricey. I am having a real hard time finding any info or reviews for this book. I will be using it with three of my four boys in grades 3rd, 6th, and 8th. I looked at a sample of this book, but it is so hard to get a good grasp when you only get to see a few pages. We will be using this with SCM Module 2, however I am willing to substitute if need be.
We used it last year, and it was ok…but I found the language hard to read naturally (and we do love good books and intense literature). We enjoyed the first half but by the end of the last term were ready to be done, and didn’t finish the book. There is a lot of text and very few pictures, which is kind of tough in a geography book; we had to go online to find decent pictures of some of the historical sites mentioned. The first volume is scheduled in the material we’re using for science this year, and I’m hesitating to buy it, wondering if it’s any different. I’d love to hear if anyone would like to chime in about that one as well.
missceegee and I were just discussing this resource last night. I also LOVE Voskamp’s blog and assumed that her geography books would be written in a similar style. I was wrong! We found it difficult to stay engaged, overwhelming because the passages are very lengthy, and overall not an enjoyable experience. I used it one term last year and sold it.
