Thought I let the ones who use this know that number 3 is out! I have not used any of these because of the mixed reviews. I don’t like Ann’s style of writing.
I know this has been asked over the years, but would like a new update please! :)For those of you who have used them, did you like them?
This is the first time I’ve ever heard of these, but I’m definitely intrigued. I just downloaded the sample to read.
I’ve been reading CM’s Geographical Reader 1 to my younger boys. They love it, and so do I. However, some of the information is a bit outdated, and my knowledge of world geography is not good enough to always know where!
We are almost finished using book 2 with our Greece study. It’s okay. There are parts that I’ve liked in the book and then there have been other parts that I haven’t enjoyed as much. Sometimes I feel like she tries to force the “living book” aspect, but overall it hasn’t been a horrible resource. The writing style is different than her 1000 Gifts book – that one is more flowery to me that the geography book. And honestly, books are such a personal perference – it’s hard to say if you’ll like it until you pick up a copy and read it. I am glad we kept going with the book because my kids did learn from it, but I’m not sure if I’ll use it again when we get back to module 2.
I had tried Book 1 in the past and we just couldn’t get into it. Can’t nail it down, but it just seemed liked she took too long to get to a point, not in the Charles Dickens sort of way, either (when the details matter). I hesitate to use the term that just popped into my mind but – jibber-jabber; too much chattiness without a purpose (at least to us).
Sorry, don’t want to discourage anyone, but you asked…I really wanted to like it. It could just be us.
Most definitely want to know Rachel! I think you either like it or really dislike it! LOL! This is from what I have read! And I really want to avoid buying ANOTHER thing that does not get used!!!
I just wanted to note that the newest book (3rd) in the series is written by a different author (Terri Johnson from Knowledge Quest). You can download three of the chapters as a sample which should give you a good idea as to whether you will enjoy the writing style of the author. (Although after looking at it myself it seems quite similar in style to the other two books!)
