My 12 year old was going strong for 4.5 weeks, then this past week I can’t seem to keep her on task. This is our first year doing homeschool, and even before in private school (through 5th grade), she would go through this. Maybe I’m worrying too much, or pushing too hard. I can’t seem to find her interest or get out what’s on her mind. I know there is something going on. I appreciate any thoughts and certainly your prayers.

Around here people talk about “deschooling” kids that have been in school. The uses is basically to take a month off and do nothing schooly for every year your kid was in school. Kids seem to need to recover and get that picture of what school is out of their heads. CM might have talked about mastery inactivity. Either way I’d try scaling back for a while, read books, go on nature walks but don’t try and be too schooly for a bit.
