Recently my 5yodd (independent reader, writing) has asked me several times for a Bible STUDY like what she has seen me do. Does anyone have any recommendations? Would the GOAL SCM study be way over her head? I want something that she is able to do, but I don’t want twaddle that is just given to her. It’d be great for her to really find the answers herself, you know? I’ve also seen the Kay Arthur studies for kids, but those look too advanced. Right now she is doing Draw to Learn with the Psalms but she is asking for something more.
My son (now 9) loves his “God’s Mighty Warrior Devotional Bible”. He has been reading from this since age 5 and still loves to go back to it. It is conversational in tone and has some activities, like “Seed the Need” to help feed birds in the backyard (pinecone birdfeeder) and relates the activities to the Bible section being read. It also has some questions, like “What can you do to make the world around you a better place? Ask your parents to help you come up with ways.” The boys version has an overall theme of helping boys learn to be God’s Mighty Warrior.
I am not sure if your daughter is looking more for actual Q&A. The girls version is “God’s Little Princess Devotional Bible”. To my understanding, its theme is to teach girls how to be a daughter of God. The scripture is NIV so I am not sure if that would work (I know some who only want their children to read King James version).
There are others in series, but I didn’t have time to access all the links.
HTH,
Karen
ETA: If this looks like what you want, you might want to look at the Beginnings II series or Bible Foundations series for gr. 1 and up instead of Beginnings I for ages 2-5.
