Can I start in Module 4?  It is the time period where my 8th grader needs to be, but I want to add my 3rd and 4th graders to the mix for next year rather than teaching them separately.

Does my 8th grader do all of the books listed up through 8th grade or just the family books and the books for her grade level?

    Thanks!

    Hi,

You certainly may start in Module 4 if that’s where you need to start your 8th grader. If you are going to continue the cycle in order your older would get American history in 9th and 10th, then cycle back through some ancients in 11th and 12th. Your 4th grader would end up getting American history in 5 & 6 and then in 11& 12, so that works nicely, also.

Your 8th grader would be required to read only the books listed for the grades 7-9, and the family read aloud. It is possible your child may also enjoy some of the books that your 4th grader is reading, but they are not required. Most books for the earlier grades will be picture books or very short chapter books that they read with mom.

Start wherever you want! Combined history is great for our family.

Your 8th grader should read the family books (usually a family read-aloud) and the 8th grade books, but you can substitute books that are available at your home or at your town library.
