1st grade "extras"

    Can you share with me what subjects you do with a first grader? And how frequently? If we are doing a history and geography reading daily, and science twice a week, is that too much? Daily we do Scripture memory, Bible, copywork and math (he reads independently so we don’t practice anymore). Weekly we do music and art study.

    That all sounds very good.

     

    My younger son was in first grade last year.  He did math, history, science, scripture memory, and reading daily (a lot of it because he has an older brother and we do science and history as a family).  He did copywork, geography, nature study, and artist/poet/composer study a few times a week.  Also, he does do some music (a computer program to learn piano) and foreign language a few times a week.
