14 yo ds struggling with Analytical Grammar…

I’m not sure what I should do….. He seemed to do ok with easy grammar…although he does struggle with grammar period!
We are barely into the book and he misses quite a lot.

Keep going! My 11.5 year old is doing Analytical Grammar (with no previous grammar background). The first two units were dismal scores. BUT after chatting with the author on their yahoo group we were advised to keep going because they just keep practicing and will get better. A few units later I’ve seen that it is true. It finally clicked as she learned what some of those other words really were. Much improvement now by unit 5.
And I would be sure to do the first ‘season’ and take at least a few months to practice using that spiral book they offer to let it all become truely second nature before heading into the 2nd season.
That’s my plan!
My dd doesn’t like AG either…but we’re pressing on since we’re already in Season 2 and Season 3 looks simple in comparison! Did he do Jr AG? My dd did that first and I think it made Season 1 of AG easier (Jr AG has same concepts as Season 1, just in simpler sentences). I admit I have to focus to understand Season 2 myself…but am stubbornly hanging on since I think it’s a quality program and we have a lot invested (and I don’t think dd would probably like another program:)
Oh, and we often just do 1/2 a lesson a day…..labeling one day, diagramming the next, etc. Hope you can make it work or find a better fit! Blessings, Gina
