We are looking for a vehicle with three row seating.  What do you have?  What do you like about it, not like about it?  This will be our main vehicle until it either falls apart or the kids leave the house.

I can’t remember if I have seen a post similar to this before or not, so if there is another post like this I would appreciat a link to it.  Thank you.

Do you mean three rows behind the driver?  We’re a family of 10 and we drive a Ford E-350 van.  It is a 12 passenger van (driver and passenger seats up front, then bench for 3, bench for 3, and bench for 4).  It also has room behind the last bench.  We can fit a stroller AND Mason’s wheelchair there, or a large cooler, groceries, etc. We love it!

Just 3 rows.  There are only 5 of us total.  I’m torn between a mini-van and some other SUV type.

I love my 2005 Toyota Sienna minivan. It is wide and smooth, easy to drive, and a lot cheaper and has more room than the Toyota SUV I looked at. I have the optional 8th seat. I like my van better than the new ones, which is great because I couldn’t get a new one anyway:)

The Honda Odyssey van costs a bit more, but is nice too.

I have a 2010 Honda Odyssey with 8th seat (smaller that Toyota’s 8th seat, but useful still). I’m happy with it. It’s my 2nd honda odyssey. I am considering a larger suv as the kids keep getting bigger. There are 6 of us.

Love my 2009 Honda Odyssey. My kids are young so I love that the keychain opens the doors. I would choose it over a Sienna because of the power. I feel like my Honda has more punch getting up the mountains near our home than the Toyotas I have owned. We lived in Texas for a while and I was amazed at how fast the van cooled down on hot summer days. I’m also always shocked at how much stuff we can cram in the back on trips. We’ve fit full sheets of plywood in the “Momma Car” as it is affectionately called.

I’ve driven a Honda a Odyssey since 1999. Love them. I’m not as crazy about the new body style and there is less room in them. I was in a bad accident last year and totaled my 2005 model and replaced it with a 2009 which, I believe, was the last year they made the previous style.

I have a Town and Country that I really like. We are a family of 5. I love the Stow N Go Seating! I always keep one seat folded into the floor, so there is one child in a captains chair and 2 in the 3rd row. Pair it with the auto doors and it is so nice. It can be freezing cold, windy, raining like crazy, or the kids need to change clothes… and there is so much space in the van so get in, close the door, and get them all buckled in. I said I would NEVER have a van, but I really like it now that we have it.

We have a 1998 Honda Odyssey with 276,000 miles and it’s still going strong. It’s our second Odyssey.  We just bought a Honda Accord Sport which seats 5 of us comfortably.  We love Hondas! 🙂

If you don’t want a minivan, we love our Chevy Traverse. We had an Odyseey but needed AWD. The Toyota is the only van with it and I didn’t like the feel of it. The Traverse would have less storage but all the seats (2nd and 3rd row) fold down very easily.

We’ve enjoyed our Nissan Armada for almost 8 years now!  We chose it because the third row had more leg room than mini vans and suburbans (for our then teen aged sons.)  I was driving 5 children everywhere when we bought it in ’06.  Their ages were 14, 13, 11, 6, and infant…Daddy was only with us for church days.  There is plenty room for groceries, or co-op/activity stuff behind the third seat, too.

Now, it’s rare for me to have more than one, or two of the children with me….so it feels HUGE!  I’ve considered downsizing, but I like the sturdy feeling of sitting up high enough to see everything and also realize that in the next few years I may have grandchildren come visit if some of our older children (now in their 20’s) get married and have children.

Lots of miles, needs new seat covers, but not excited about a car payment, so I’ll probably keep it and look at those cool pink camo covers.  Wink

We have 4 children and own 2 Suburbans (just bought our second one a few days ago!). I wish they made a version with sliding doors – then it would be my perfect vehicle! If we didn’t frequently have my parents riding with us the seating in a minivan would be OK, but we wanted at least an 8 seater. I like older models that don’t have quite as many bells and whistles to malfunction.

We absolutely love our Excursion.  They don’t make them anymore, but low mileage used ones with lots of bells and whistles – at least what was available then- are very affordable compared to new cars. They are huge. We don’t always fit in all parking garages.   The only drawback is the low gas mileage. It hurts a little at the gas pump, but what a car!!!! If you do a ton of commuting, it is not for you, but 6 of us and all of our stuff can fit in it for long big trips.  We always have room for a friend or two.

We have a 2009 Toyota Highlander with 3rd row, and I really like it.  My kids are still small (2, 6, 8), and we can fit all three in the second row (car seat in the middle, boosters on each side), so the third row is laid down most of the time which leaves plenty of room for cargo.  If the toddler is being extra spunky, tormenting everyone, I pop up the third row and put the older two back there.  When the third row is in use, there is very little room for groceries.  It’s comfy, sturdy, and gets excellent gas mileage for an SUV.  However, if I didn’t do so much dirt road driving, I would possibly go with the minivan for convenience, ease of getting kids in and out, and the extra cargo space.  We were in an accident in our previous Highlander, and it took the impact incredibly well.  We all walked away from the accident, but the guy who hit us did not, and he was driving a 3/4 ton pick-up.  Good luck in your search!
