I Love the 106 Days of Creation Curriculum, and have been looking for another science curriculum that is similar in set up. I recently came across Noeo Science. Has anyone used this? Any thoughts and curriculum ideas would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!
A friend of mine just brought hers over for me to see (Biology 2). I am thinking I may get Chemistry 2 for my children. It looks really good to me. I love that it comes with the majority of what you need for experiments (which my daughter is begging to do). We have not done many experiments at all.
I know that Jimmie from Jimmie’s Collage used many of these and recommended them highly!
I have used the level 1 guide and books and love them. The experiments are well layed out and they worked. The guide was used as a suggestion. Some days we would read more and some days less. I have even moved units around to suit our interest. I tried one year of the level 2 books, but was not thrilled with the heavy use of the Usborne books. Just not my favorite.
I just became interested in this…but it seems so expensive next to our Apologia Elem. I think my son would LOVE it…asked for it when he saw me searching:) Any tips on where to buy? Thanks! Gina
I have only seen it on the Noeo website. I haven’t looked on ebay, but maybe try there. I did find that most of the books are available on half.com. I also thought of seeing if they are available through the library and then only purchasing the additional things needed. Hope that helps.
just chiming in late to say, hmmmmm. I found it was really just a science textbook that hadn’t been written yet. If you cut out all the suggested readings from the resources and glued them into a scrapbook, you would have a typical textbook. Little smatterings of info pieced together. I can’t say I felt like all the resources were living books. Lots of DK, Usbourne… anyways. We often added our own reading. The lab book blanks that they supply are great though and give you a range of styles to match where your child’s writing and recording level is at. That was a good thing and we still use that style of recording in our notebooks and sketchbooks. Just felt like the readings were not enough. Had the level one bio and physics to do with my children.
Does anyone have any suggestions on what to use for a 6th grader who is really wanting to DO experiments? (I think I know the answer but it will involve me doing lots of work and planning…) 😉
Amanda, have you seen the Sonlight Discover and Do dvd’s? I have not looked at SL Science past the early years, though. I didn’t like jumping from topic to topic…but my ds in 2nd grade or so loved the dvd’s and would watch and do them on his own….
Queen Homeschool has a new chemistry book called, Further Investigation. The description says high school, but I think a sixth grader could handle it 😉
