Just for a fun thing—my oldest son will be going on a mission for my church.  We found out today where he’d spend the next two years.  Romania and Moldova!  Very exciting for us.  Son is thrilled.  He will get to use some of his language knowledge.  The second thing he said when he found out where he was going was “Romanian has three noun cases.”  LOL

LOVE THIS!! And I love that I get to hear updates from you now and then on this board after all these years! My 2nd oldest is hoping to leave on a mission next spring/summer — it’s so cool to see the change in her over her past year at college.

Wonderful news, Bookworm, and so happy to hear it!!

Yea! My son left in May. He’s in Fresno, CA speaking Spanish and LOVING it. What language does your son know? Mine was/is very excited to be speaking Spanish–he was already fluent so only had 2 weeks at the MTC. It’s very strange having them not accessible. I know you’re great friends with your boys like I am with mine.

We’re glad we had a year with him at BYUI before he went. It was like a stepping stone. He was gone, but we still had family prayer with him on Skype every day and talked every night. This has been hard though. Some days harder that I expected; but a lot of days easier. I’ve just been so grateful he got over Lyme Disease and could go finally–that has kept me from getting too sad.

I hope he can type really fast so you get long emails!

    Congrats to you all!

That is so exciting!  What a fun place to be and what an amazing opportunity to share the word of God.

How fun! Romani and Moldova sounds pretty exciting. What language does he already speak that he will use?

It is interesting to see them develop so many skills and how they grow up while serving, too. Sometimes the culture shock is kinda funny, and that is just in the States, lol.

He has studied Latin for several years, and actually continued with it in college.  Romanian is a Romance language, actually, and it kept some of the Latin noun cases.  One of the ones it kept is, oddly, vocative.  Why oh why I can’t think–if I were designing a language based on Latin, vocative would be the first thing to go.  LOL  But Cade is very excited.

Oh how exciting.  I will pray for him and his journey.  And for dad and mom & brothers as he is gone.
