Where are some of your favorite places to get blank notebooks your commonplace books? I love beautiful papers and notebooks and like my commonplace books to be special. Looking for new ideas.
I love Nancy Kelly’s post about commonplace books. Her books are beautiful and would love to find similar.
Well, I know this is not a very original idea, but I just love anything Moleskine. The paper is just so nice to write on and I particularly love the Cahier line because with the sewn binding, the whole book can be folded back like a spiral. I have thought about decoupaging the covers with some beautiful scrapbook paper, but I think I’m in a plain and simple frame of mind these days.
When my daughter and I were last at Barnes and Noble, they did have some gorgeous books in the journal section. The one I loved was handmade paper with a thick leather cover that tied shut. It was beautiful in a rustic sort of way. The picture from SageParnassus reminded me of Barnes and Noble because they had several books with a similar look to those.
For me these days, writing is all about the feel of the pen on the paper and I guess that’s why I am stuck on Moleskine for now, though I would be interested in an alternative if anyone’s got any suggestions.
I think you’ve both found beautiful options. Mine is just a cushy Dayspring journal at this point. 🙂
I had a small one a while back. Mary Englebreit. It fit in my purse. That was nice. I never know when I might see a sign, t-shirt, or smidge of pretty words in a book on a trip to town.
What a great idea, Triatan! I used to sell Creative Memories so I have reams of gorgeous papers! I’m getting so inspired! :). I’ll be writing everything down.
You’re welcome. I use them for my kids’ notebooks for Spelling Wisdom, for narration notebooks, for BF Geography notebooks … pretty much any reason I can find, in addition to some for myself. I love pretty books.
Becca – so true! I love getting packs of the scrapbook paper at Hobby Lobby with one of their 40% off coupons so the kids can enjoy them. They use them for lots of things. For example, here is a tutorial I did on making cute corner bookmarks:
oh yes – altered notebooks…those are fun. My daughter made a pretty one with paper glued to the cover as the base and then she added buttons and ribbon to the front in a flower design.
