mainly school for apps, videos?  personal use such as surfing web, reading msg boards?  Do you find it gets tiresome holding it?

I do not have an Ipad but a Kindle Fire and it is great for me!!! Laughing I use it for reading, internet, movies, and will be adding the e-books off of SCM to it for our school year. That will save me a LOT of shelf space in my home LOLI also have some great educational apps on it!!! Same for my Ipod touch

Granted,I have to resize the internet aspect of it and cannot respond to posts on the SCM board, but all in all I love my Kindle Fire.

I have the Nook color and use it some for reading on the web but the size does bother me. However I also use my laptop a lot as well…

I can’t decide if the Ipad is going to be really all that GREAT as I hear….. I really don’t need/want another electronic device to access the internet….. I have enough.  I would however love to access some great apps for school “if” they are worth the $$ of the ipad…

We do have the ipod touch so I would have access to apps available on it.

Guess I need to sit down this weekend and see what apps are ipad only vs ipod touch…… there would have to be some really great, can’t do without apps to make me feel ok with the purchase of an ipad.

I think your idea of seeing what apps that you would use is a great idea.  Then see which of those will work well on your ipod touch. Then if there are some that don’t work on the touch you could check the Android market to see if they are available there.  You are able to get Android apps on the Nook color by buying an SD card with the CM7 program on it.  You can do that here http://www.n2acards.com/ or you can search for the cards on amazon.com.  I have the Nook Color and am using an SD card for using Android apps. It is similar to rooting your Nook but without voiding the warranty. Plus you can still get back to your regular Nook Color anytime. The ipad probably is the easiest to use and it is a 10 inch screen but it is also the most expensive, If you go that route you may not need the Nook Color anymore.

Many blessings as you make your choice,

We use ours for web surfing, email, apps (both educational/school and fun), reading, Bible, videos, etc.  DH has an iPhone as well, so we can message each other while he’s at work since we don’t have a text plan, and can keep notes on it.  The possibilities are endless!  It is so lightweight too, so much easier than lugging a laptop around.  The size screen is much nicer than a smart phone too.  I can’t compare it to other e-readers, but we are very happy with the iPad!  DH would love one for work to replace his brand new laptop!

My family purchased an iPad 2 for my birthday today!!! I am so excited! I have had an iPhone for a couple of years, and I have already been using it for educational purposes (very impressed by Lakeshore Learning apps), as well as routine management (motivated moms app) reading (Kindle!!!), games (Words with Friends, Angry Birds), audios (Bible, Old Time Radio Stories – I am a Gunsmoke and Johnny Dollar junkie!) and so,so many more. I plan to incorporate the iPad into our homeschool even more so than the iPhone. Maybe I’ll even manage to be more active on this board. Miracles STILL happen, you know! Happy New Year!
