OK, yesterday we picked up a complete set of “The History of the Decline and fall of the Roman Empire” $8 for all 8 books in the 2 boxed sets. My 10 Ds pointed out the whole set and said, he wanted them to read.

I looked at them and it really looked like a good set of books. It showed drawlings of the ruins of some of the ancient Roman buildings. It also showed some of the old coins used by some of the Romans with the pictures of the leaders of the time and when they reined.

My question is has anyone ever read Edward Gibbon’s findings of History on Rome and if so what did they think. Is it true to the Historical timeline? ect….  Ok is  this a good book?

So far what I have seen it seems good but I have only looked threw a few of the volumes and haven’t read to much of it.  What I have found was pretty interesting though.

My Ds begged me for the complete set and promised to read them if I bought them for him…… Oh, how could I turn that down! 🙂    I mean please shoot me my son is begging me for History books! LOL….   How could I turn down what we are going to be studying for next year anyway…. 🙂

Shhhh…. I probably would have bought them anyway. It is only more encouraging when my 10 year old wants to read it and promises…. 🙂

Anyone please share what they know about Edward Gibbon or his Historical Annuals.

                            Thanks!
