What to do after Delightful Reading? and good early readers?

I have a five year old, and we are finishing up the Delightful Reading lessons. He is doing very well with the combination of Delightful Reading and the Pathway Readers.  So my question is, when we finish the lessons in DR, do we just continue to read the pathway readers and other early reader books or does he need any more “formal lessons?”  Can we just tackle new words that come up in his reading? And does anyone have any suggestions besides the Pathway Readers for good early readers?

What level of Pathway Readers have you used? I believe the SCM site recommends using them for reading up through 3rd grade or so? Personally we are using the Elson Reader Primer for my 4 year old. I have it free on my tablet.
