I am new here on this forum. I have 3 boys ages 7,5, and 2. I am pregnant with my 4th boy due in July. We are doing the 106 Days of Creation study right now. If you are thinking about buying the study do it! It is worth the ten or fifteen dollars.

I am wondering what other mothers use to teach their children Spanish. I would like to make a simple introduction to the language and involve my 2 year old as well.

Thanks for all your input and ideas.

    Hi, Marshal –

Thanks for the encouragement on 106 Days!

I noticed that no one had responded yet about Spanish so thought I would mention El Espanol Facil. (Hope I spelled that right!) We have not used it personally, but it looks quite interesting and includes all the children. You might take a look at it.

We started by attending a local playgroup for bilingual families. We also made friends with two Venezuelan families from our church. This way the kids have someone to practice with other than mama, and our Hispanic friends are thrilled to help our children learn their language so young. I like that they are hearing a native accent as well. We like to tie the things we are learning to real life as much as possible.

Do you have any Latino/Hispanic groups in your city?

To keep myself on track (and to have some sort of order) we are walking through the Frank Schaffer book Teach Them Spanish PreK/Grade K. It’s geared for a school setting, but we adapt it easily to our needs.

Spanish was my major in college, so that helped a little too.
