Has anyone here viewed the 2008 film adaptation of Watership Down? Can you recommend it & why or why not? It was distributed by Warner Home Video and stars John Hurt and Nigel Hawthorne.

I have not seen the 2008 adaptation.

Do NOT have kids watch the one from 1978.  Nightmares are common – it is VERY graphic of the violence.   (This is noted on boards where people discuss this book – there are many adults out there that watched the movie and had horrible nightmares that they still remember.)

Thanks for letting me know about that.  If I decide to get the 2008 version, I’ll have to preview that, too.

I just discovered that the “2008 version” that my library has is actually the 1978 animated one that gave suzukimom nightmares!  They released a deluxe edition with special features in 2008, and that’s the dvd our library has.

Darn! We like to watch well-done film adaptations of books we’ve read. Maybe we’ll have a better chance of finding a good film version of David Copperfield (as I mentioned in my other thread)!
