Hey. Sorry it’s taken me a while to get back here. I need to come back later today and try to answer. Hubby has been receiving steroidal ivs at the hospital every day, a long distance away, this week, so I’m touch and go.

I will consider this while sitting in the lobby and try to answer later today, when I get my ummph back.

    It’s a complex issue.

The only way I can think to answer your question is that it’s not just one book or other resource that would be a balance to the history opinion books. It’s a cumulative knowledge of history and historical facts, therefore being able to discern when someone is omitting certain info., creating a wrong impression. There are probably specific books that are subject specific and articles and primary documents to counteract his opinion, too (like Churchill letters to FDR).

By the time we get to these books – early high school, I guess – then my children will have compiled a great deal of knowledge of history; if there are other resources that I find between now and then to contribute to the discusion, I’ll use them. I think it’s important for us to discuss these things and the more purist Libertarian perspective because it is a view we hear in the political circle we keep and they need to be prepared to counteract it. What he says is heard in Progressive circles too (the excuse-making people and blame- America people, as well as Anti-Zionist/Israel people).

Like I said before, I agree with some parts in the books, from what I’ve read thus far, but I disagree with some of his conclusions. Sorry, I’m more help at this time. I think what I”ll probably do is gather a list of books for each history book as needed in preparation for using it. I’d be happy to post that info. when the time comes, as I hope if you come across something, you can do the same.

Yes, I understand. The unspoken is dangerous is what I’m hearing you say. Reading Vreaking the Veil of Silence, by Jobst Bittner right now. Not on economics, but a caution to cover that which is said and that which isn’t to understand the whole picture.

Thanks for your post. I’ll post anything I find along the way and always enjoy what you share.
