We are signed up with our homeschool group to see Tom Sawyer tomorrow.  A friend of mine just told me today that she took her boys when they were 5 and 6, and it had some scary stuff around murder and such.  I have never read the book, so I am not sure what to think.  My kids are 6 (boy) and 9 (girl).  My friend told me to Google it, but I haven’t been able to find much, like when it occurs in the play.  I don’t know how to prepare my kids for it if I don’t know what to expect.  If we go is it going to scare them?  If necessary we can walk out of the play, but I want to go in prepared if we do go.  I have already paid for the tickets, so I am out the money if we skip, but so be it if necessary.  Would love to hear from any of you are familiar with it.  TIA!

I think it can really depend on the play, what they include, what they leave out, how serious they are.

There is a scene when Tom Sawyer gets lost in caves and a scene when he witnesses a murder. I can see how it could possibly be scary depending how it’s played.

I suggest calling the venue to ask as it depends on the production.
