DH and I are celebrating 21 years of marriage, we’ve been together for 24. He surprised me by taking the whole day off but didn’t plan anything beyond that. So, now we have the whole day free but are coming up blank on activities. It’s gonna be overcast and warm today and will most likely rain this afternoon, which cuts out several ideas I had come up with; helicopter ride, hiking, bike ride, picnic. We are going to head to the lake this morning praying that the rain holds off for us to at least dip our toes in the water. That still leaves us all afternoon and evening free.

I would love love love it if y’all could throw some ideas my way for how to spend the rest of the day.

We aren’t involving friends n family in our celebration this year. My parents anniversary is just 10 days after mine and with Dad just passing we don’t want to upset Mom anymore than she is gonna be by making ours a big thing, maybe next year for that.

I’ll check back in after the lake to see if you guys came up with some ideas (fingers crossed)…..

A progressive dinner. Go to one place for appetizers, another for the meal, and a third for dessert. For example I would love appetizers at Olive Garden, Dinner at Red Lobster, and dessert at Dairy Queen. 🙂 Something we would never do in regular life but could be fun for an anniversary.

Visit somewhere you went on an earlier anniversary, or recreate your first date. Ex: Our first date we went to Wendy’s and then saw The 6th Sense in a movie theater where we ended up being the only two people in the theater. Crazy! But fun! So to redo that we would do Wendy’s and then do a movie, possibly even just at home.

Congratulations! that’s awesome!! How about rollerskating? You could put your hand in each others back pockets and let all the pre-teens see what true love looks like 24 years in! is that too cheesy? maybe? Have fun anyway, and post back and tell us how it went!

Sometimes we like to tackle a project together.  Read next to each other.  Lunch or dinner out.  We involve the kids with part of it – usually a meal and dessert.  Movies if it’s a super awesome boy movie…not way is he sitting through a girl movie in public!  Shop for clothes for each other or usually books.  Go get massages (massage schools offer great prices), get pedicures, haircuts, or other pampering services.  Spend some time writing a letter to each other with things you love about them, memories you have.
