For those of you who use the Book of Centuries or make your own timeline along with the SCM guides – do you use the Homeschool in the Woods timeline figures?  Does the SCM guide help you know when/where to place the figures in your book or on your timeline?

Yes and yes! The HITW figures are beautiful artwork. Of course, you can always have your child(ren) make their own. I’ve noticed that when they make their own they remember more about the person or event. It’s just not quite as pretty as HITW! I remind myself that “pretty” isn’t necessarily my goal in a timeline. The margins of the guides have the people and events noted for you. HTH!

There are places in the guides where it tells you to enter such and such in your BOC.

I found that if I took a few minutes with each Module guide and the Table of Contents from the Homeschool in the Woods Figures, I could jot down on each lesson the HSitW figure and page location. Then I printed those pages. As we did the lesson, I knew where to find that figure for the BOC.

I think it took me 20-30 minutes to do this prior to starting the Module, but it saved me hours of locating it each week week, plus losing the kids interest while I hunted. =)

I just look up pictures on the internet and scale them to a consistant size.  Sometimes my student picks out of various pictures found on google.
