Has anyone read this? Would love any thoughts about the book and age recommendation. Thanks!!

I just started reading this! I read it years ago, as an older teen / early twenties…..but don’t take that as an age recommendation! I think it’s listed in the All Through the Ages book as a grade 10-12 book.  The language is older – longer sentences, some strange words (takes place in New Testament Bible times), that sort of thing.  (I’m only at chapter 2, though!)

I read it several years ago, as well.  I ended up letting it go in a purge, though.  I remember being touched by it, as an adult and able to enjoy it as a “what-might-have-been,” but I think I didn’t want it lying around for impressionable teens to get confused.  The robe wasn’t magic.  The woman who was healed by touching the hem as Jesus passed by was healed by her faith, right?  Not a mystical piece of cloth.

At the time, I remember wondering what started the upholding of Saints’ relics as imbued with power and such, or kind of the New Age Pantheism that permeates our culture–so I let it go.

It was a touching story, though. Clearly, the story line still resonates in my head, so it was well-done.

Humblepie, I really appreciate your thoughts and the new age warning!
