  • Thanks to you both Cindy and Christie. In my heart I know it is the right way – I went to a CM primary school in England (where I am from) sadly my high school was not CM – so though I knew I loved the method, I had no idea where to begin with HS especially as my girls were in PS until recently and were only used to textbooks. You have been most encouraging. I think I will use the textbook obviously for math and maybe the Apolgia science and everything elseI will use a CM approach. I may have to give them a little grammar, as the PS seems to have left that out!! Any other advice would be appreciated and welcomed – I am grateful for a site like this, where we can glean info and encouragement. By the way how many hours do high school teens generally do when following a CM approach approximately, as I understand everyone may be a bit different?

My guys are doing academics for about 5 1/2 to 6 hours. That does not include chores, music, outside time, breakfast or lunch read alouds. We are very scheduled and the way it has worked for us is to schedule 45 minutes to an hour for 1 credit courses and 1/2 hour for half credit courses.

Thanks Cindy – that is about what I was thinking – so it sounds like I am on track with that. I am now going to dig into the SCM Planning book and get started. I do appreciate the input. Bless you all. Lindy
