For those of you whose dc love this series, where do you get your’s??  Our Friends of the Library had about 4 of them (hardback, old, but good condition)…but my son didn’t think he would like them.  So, instead of buying all of them, like I should have, I only bought one.  Well, we listened to Swamp Robbers recently so he decided he’d pick up the one we do have, and now my son is hooked.  He is reading SCG at School right now, but would like to read more in the future (or listen to them)…so, are the one’s I see at amazon the real ones or are there originals that are of better quality??

Oh, how I wish I had bought those books…we went back there the other day and they were all gone.  They’d probably been there for years until some CM lady came and snatched them up:)  LOL.

I am not sure about the ones on Amazon. I have a few Sugar Creek books that I picked up at the library’s used book sale and used book stores.  If you have used book stores in your area, you can find some great books there.  Of course, like everything, you have to wade through the junk, too.  Wink  Also, I have found some great books, including SCG, at thrift stores.

I’ll keep looking…just not sure about the ones for sale (paperback/somewhat modern looking) on amazon.  Ugh, I wish I had bought the ones I saw at that Friends of the Library!  That was a good lesson learned:)

The audio ones on belovedbooks are kind of pricey ($54), but probably worth it, we’ll see.

I am so glad to know there are books!! We have one DVD of the Sugar Creek Gang, and my children LOVE it. They will watch it over and over and still laugh the whole time. I’m going to look into these for ds7 to read after he finishes The Boxcar Children series. He’s on book 13 right now, so it won’t be too long before he’s ready for a new series!

Once again, I never cease to be amazed at all the things I learn about on this board!

    Blessings,

    Lindsey

I’m just still waiting to see if anyone has experience with the ones on amazon/used books sites, before I buy any:)

If you end up with any, Lindsey, let me know how you like them.

    Blessings.

    Thanks Karen.

I was going to check wikipedia, but wasn’t even thinking they’d have a list, so I passed it up.  Thank you!

Thanks.  I saw those, too, but was unsure of them, kind of like the Boxcar Children series.  I hadn’t checked or asked anyone if they are originals.  But, now I know and will pick some up for my kiddos.  Thanks a bunch!

This is an ALL TIME FAVORITE at my house. There are 36 books in the series, all by the author Paul Hutchens. The newer looking ones are the same stories but new covers. The few books I have from the series (5 or so) are with the original illustrations which I prefer. However the story is exactly the same.

This series wasn’t continued by others like Boxcar Children (incidentally, the first 19 of those are by the original author – just bought all 19 last week).

We have the entire SCG series on audiobook from http://www.belovedbooks.com/page/page/1567474.htm and they are our most loved audiobooks ever. Paul Ramseyer the narrator is terrific. We love these so much that we dislike reading the books b/c we can’t hear Mr. Ramseyer’s voice.

You can’t go wrong with SCG.

    Happy reading!

    Thanks everyone.

Thanks Christie…my oldest is reading one of the books right now (hardback, old looking, might’ve been why he didn’t think he’d like it).  We had listened to Swamp Robbers and he can hear Paul Ramseyer’s voice while he’s reading:)  I love, love it, that he’s 12 (old twelve) and finds these books entertaining:)  Yeah!
