We have been using story of the world vol4 for a modern history spine but I’m not enthralled by it…I’m wondering if Stories of the Nations volume 2 would be suitable for 14 year old boy, average reader but struggles with comprehension (dyslexia)? Or should we just continue with SOTW? What else do others use for a spine for older children when doin Moderns?
We are not American and would like to focus on world history.
Thank you.
BekParticipantHi,
Does anyone have any feed back at all on this book?Pleeeaaase!
Sonya, would you say it’s suitable for the reasons I’ve already outlined? He finds SOTW 4difficult and it doesn’t flow like his other books.
sarah2106ParticipantWe have read Story of the Nations and enjoyed it. As an adult I learned a lot and found the writing to flow, but have never read SOTW to compair. My children were younger and they followed it well, and as an adult I enjoyed it.
Did you download the sample of Story of the Nations, maybe give that to your son and ask his thoughts.
Tamara BellModeratorI agree, the best way to know if it will work in your situation is to download the sample and have a read. 🙂
It was meant to be used for the entire family so students ranging in grades 1-12 will be able to utilize it.
BekParticipantThank you so much. Yes I did download the sample but was not sure if it would be ‘adequate’ for his age. Knowing it was designed for the full age range is helpful.
bethannaParticipantThe narration cards that go along with the book are wonderful. My 13 yo daughter used them with the book and she really liked both resources.
BekParticipantThanks for that. I would not have thought of using the cards.
