When you get to the really long passages, do you dictate the entire thing? Or just part? If you do the whole thing, do you do it all in one sitting or split it up over a couple/few days?

Depends on the kid. I have one who loves to write…. so we do whole thing. We do a new dictation every other day with him

Then I have one who hates pen to paper!  We only do a small portion of the passage with him. We do the SAME dictation with him for entire week …. seems to help his spelling more that way

You could also have the student “study” all the words of the entire passage—the ones that might Trip him up but then only dictate a portion.
