I’m curious. I have a first grader for my oldest of three, and I am trying to figure out a general path for language arts. I’ve read some posts and see some follow a delayed and CM approach to spelling and grammar and others follow a more traditional path and start earlier. Which path did you use and why? I believe the CM way CAN work, but I am not sure I have the courage to follow it. I know better than to play the “compare” game, but with other kids in first grade spelling much better than my son, I need either encouragement to follow the very different CM way or an opposite and real reason to consider the more traditional way (lists for spelling, grammar early) for second grade next year and on.
