So I have used Language Lessons from Queens for 2 or so years.  I really like everything about it the simple little lessons (which with boys has been huge), the color pictures through it, the narrations, poetry, etc.  But I am at a point were spending my money has to be very well thought through.  And here is my hang up on LL…

We do our copywork seperately for various reasons.  That is a good 1/4 or better of these books.  I am wondering if there is anyone who has used (or even seen) these LL books and knows of something simular?  Also if at all possible something that is not writen in and I can use for more than one child would be such a better buy.

Like I said I like the format, and everything but it seems like cause we don’t do the copywork in them, it is like 1/4 or maybe even 1/2 the book isn’t even writen in.  We read the peom etc and do other things with it, but I’m just looking for a possible nother option.  Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

    Merry Christmas all,

We use Intermediate Language Lessons off livingbookscurriculum, but it is for slightly older kids as it starts at 9.  There are only 3 books for this series and the first one contains no copywork.

I use the Primary Language Lessons which can be begun at 2nd grade. There is copywork in it and fill in the blank questions to copy, but I don’t make my son do all of the writing requested; I use most of it orally. There’s some art study, a dictation and memory work. He’s learned alot in a very subtle way. One book is used for more than one child, however, due to some of the art study and some others, I also get the Teacher’s Workbook. I’ve tried using it without and with and definitely prefer it with. Plus, you can xerox the workbook pages for multiple children. Whatever writing I do require, he has a separate writing notebook for it, so no writng in the Teacher’s workbook or the main book.

Then when your finished, you move into Intermediate  Lang. Lessons. or Simply Grammer.
