My oldest will be 10th grade next year. He did Life of Fred grammar this  year and enjoyed it. Their website says to do the books every year for HS. Has anyone done this? Or have other ideas of what to use to follow it? Or is there a point when you just stop doing grammar at the HS level?

I am also probably going to use LOF for Chemistry next year for him (we love their books). Has anyone ever used their chemistry? Can it stand alone? I feel like it should have some hands on or video component added to it rather than just a book for HS chem. I was thinking oh Khan academy videos but there are so many for chem I don’t know if the two together would be too much.

    Thanks!

I purchased the Great Courses video set for Chemistry and several books for my ds. Barb Harmony’s site is where I borrowed all the ideas from (someone here posted a link to her site). I’m using her plans as a guide for me and *might* find him a class to attend but not sure about that yet.

I’ve only used one book in the Life of Fred series so I can’t comment on that.

For grammar, my ds used Our Mother Tongue this year (he’s in 10th). I do not plan for him to use any other grammar program in the next two years. He will have his notes from this book as a guide, plus, we have several books on grammar/parts of speech he can use as reference tools. He will be adding a foreign language to his subjects (probably Spanish) and he does a Latin program, as well, which I think is enough at this stage.
