We moved almost 2 years ago to Lake Mathews, CA, which is in the hills of Riverside County. We have so many birds! It is incredible. When we first moved here we literally thought we were seeing pet birds who had somehow escaped their cages. The colors are so vibrant…yellows, reds, blues. We are literally clueless on how to identify them but really want to learn.

I am overwhelmed by most bird identification books. Can someone direct me to a user friendly, new bird enthusiast book?

    Thanks you so much!

    https://www.amazon.com/Birds-California-Field-Identification-Guides/dp/1591930316/ref=sr_1_3?dchild=1&keywords=Birds+of+California&qid=1592431918&sr=8-3

I have not used the California version of this book, but we use the Texas one and it’s really easy to use. Birds are grouped by color and we’ve learned so much from our book.
