When do you think a child should read Sherlock Holmes? I know my son will love it when he gets there. Just wondering when ya’ll started allowing it due to the somewhat dark subject matter.

    Thanks,

    Rachel

We read the short Red Headed League when the girls were in middle school age, they read a lot more when they got to 9th grade, they found the writing very intriguing and fun, they read the stories for pleasure rather than school.  I actually found the Complete Sherlock Holmes at a library sale today, so it can be permanently on our bookcase.  I am sure your son will enjoy them.

My 6yo has loved the Jim Weiss CD of Sherlock Holmes stories.  Great for an intro.  I will wait on reading many of them aloud till he’s older.
