  • Just curious as to which translation you use for Scripture Memory.  I am going back and forth between NABRE and NRSV.  I prefer NRSV for reading aloud but because Mass readings are from the NAB, I wonder whether scripture memory verses should correspond to those.  Thoughts?  Pro/cons of one version over the other?

I am not Catholic, but as my children are Jewish believers, we too have different translations to choose from at home v/s in synagogue.

My advice is to use the version used in Mass for Scripture memory and use the NRSV for any general read alouds/studies, if that’s what works best. But consistency with the service in hearing/reciting verses is important, IMO.

We memorize the NAB, specifically because I want my kids to hear what they memorized each week when we are at mass.

Otherwise, for the most part, we also use the NRSV for reading/studying.

Thanks Rachel and jawgee!  In order to keep it consistent I think the best thing would be to have them memorize from the NAB.  Blessings, Z
