For those of you that use the guides for high school, what do you have them write a narration for? For instance, when we read Stories of the Nations and America: our last best hope…do they write a narration for each? Do you have them orally narrate one and handwrite another…I don’t want to assign or expect too much or too little. Also, what books do you assign for literature reading?

    Good afternoon!

SCM suggests 4 written narrations a week from grades 9-10 and 5 a week for grades 11-12.  This is only if your student is capable however.  We also suggest that you ask for narrations from a variety of subjects.  1 day may be from Stories of America or Nations, 1 may be from science, 1 from geography, and 1 from Bible.

You can read aloud to your whole family from our literature suggestions or assign the older student to read independently the “older” book groupings.
