    Hi all!

SO I was just ordering my SCM resources last night (can’t wait for them to arrive), and I came across the Copybook readers.  I somehow missed these in all my forays through the SCM choices.  I had been planning for my youngest emergent reader to use one of the levels of Queen’s Language Lessons, which all of my other kids have used at some point or another.  But in the CM way and the words of Sarah MacKenzie, “Simplify!”

So, this young reader of mine has been able to read Henry and Mudge books and Little Bear Stories  this summer.  He finally had some great a-ha moments this past school year using DeVore’s Reading Lessons Through Literature using the O-G phonogram approach.  So for our upcoming year, we will use RLTL til we are finished with it, use the SCM Copybook Reader for reinforcement, and continue reading together.  He will begin Prima Latina from Memoria Press (we used a good chunk of Getting Started with Latin as a family last year), so that will have grammar and vocab. We will NOT use Queen’s bc we will be covering Art and Composers and Poetry and Shakespeare in our morning together time, so let’s just keep his Reading/LA super simple, right?  He’s 7.5, going into 2nd grade.  Does this sound like a good plan?  Simple — copy work and reading, enrichments in other places?

    TIA,

    Amy
