scheduling teacher resources to see subject

I’m brand new to CM, and I love the organizer. Having never done this before and not knowing what each day’s lists will look, however hs prompted some questions about scheduling teacher resources and how it all becomes listed for each individual.

I’m unsure how I schedule “teacher resources” and still see the subject. For example, we have several read-aloud books for history. Should I mark those as teacher resources or history? I’d like to see them as teacher resources as well as history so that I know these are the book/s I have to pull for history time.

I am sure there is an obvious way to work this that I have yet to discover, and perhaps I don’t understand how things will look when we begin on 9/14. Basically, I’d like everyone to see that the family has history together, but if I mark everything as a teacher resource, it shows the family as just having teacher resources instead of actual subjects together. If I mark it as the family having history, I want to be sure that everyone doesn’t have a list of books on their individual lists that they assume they need to bring to the group.

With that said, the larger goal is for me to scan my list and see that I need xyz for geography, pdq for history, etc., instead of a whole list of books. Of course, I do understand that I’ll recognize what books go with what subjects. Perhaps my A+++ personality just wants to over-organize?

I would schedule the history read-alouds under History. Since you can assign each book to either “Family” or an individual student, you won’t have a problem with Family resources showing up on individual lists.

As far as knowing which books you need each day, the Daily Plan will show you that and it will be arranged by subject. Plus you can filter the Daily Plan screen to show you only Family subjects/books scheduled for that day or those scheduled for one or more individual students or all the resources needed for that day’s subjects for everybody. So you should be able to set the filter you want and scan the list to pull what you need for the day.

Perfect! That is exactly what I needed to know. Thank you for clearing it up for me.
