I’m trying to plan our school week for next year and need some help figuring out how much time should be set aside for some of the SCM resources.

Outdoor Secrets and Companion: We’ll do it 2x per week like it’s suggested with 8 and 6 year olds. How much time does it take per lesson (approx )?

Visits to…: We’ll do this 1-2x per week with 14, 13, 10, 8, 6 year olds. How much time per day?

Shakespeare: We’re doing A Midsummer Night’s Dream using SCM’s new book, the Archangel recording and (hopefully) a video, if I can find one. How long should I set aside to do this? Not sure if I want it to last all year or just a term or what yet. So any info on how many lessons or how much time per day done would be appreciated.

Thanks for any help you can give!

We are doing Outdoor Secrets this year. The length of the lessons is pretty variable. Some lessons are 5 minutes, and others are 20. The times when you are supposed to draw something in your nature journal take longer. We added in some other books, and will sometimes do two lessons at a time. I plan for about 15 minutes per lesson, with nature study drawing/narrating for two kids up to about 30 minutes. Hope that helps!

I usually plan 20 minutes for those type of subjects.  That gives us time for interruptions or they get a little free time if we finish early.
