We switched to Rightstart Math this year.  I am teaching levels C, D, and F.  I would love to hear from anyone who’s used multiple levels at once.  Especially how you handled all the games.  I’m finding it difficult to fit it all into “the feast”.

<p style=”text-align: left;”> We are doing RightStart C, E, and G this year. I’ve never done any other math. Thankfully, I’d say all three are strong in math. I try very hard to do the games. At this point, level G is pretty independent, with not a lot of games. (Although, this is a very challenging year for us due to medical needs of my 15 month-old. We are currently away from home for 2 1/2 months for his Care. So school has been a real challenge.)  I’ve heard it recommended with multiple RS, to sets timer daily and stop for the day versus completing an entire lesson. We like to complete the lesson. Anyway, back to the games. I do most but not all. I judge it based on skills that need practice as well as the game. There are some we love and some that are too much effort. If we are playing and I’m not feeling much learning occurring or for games that I read the instructions repeatedly and am confused, we skip. I have recently succombed to multiplication.com for a little drill practice. It’s free and it’s a huge treat for my kids to get screen time because they get so little, so it is well received. I’ve been pleased with RightStart, I haven’t felt over burdened by it, but I have nothing to compare it to time wise since it’s all we’ve ever done. Hope this rambling helps!</p>

Thanks for sharing!  I may have to add in some multiplication drill for my 10yo.  She is needing the games the most right now.  The lessons have had her play one game for each set of multiplication facts (during the lesson), and I know she needs much more than that outside of the lessons, but it’s often hard to get to!  Maybe I can find some multiplication drill games she can do on her own–that’s a great idea.

I like getting a full lesson in each time so they are all on the same lesson number, but it does make sense to stop the clock at some point.  I just can’t seem to get us finished before lunch.  Right now we are spending the bulk of our afternoon time on math.  🙁
