I have an 8 year old and 6 year old.  My 8 year old is a voracious reader and has read tons of the books we own.  Some of them I have read to him, and if he enjoyed it he has read it again himself.  In looking over the literature read alouds it occured to me that some of them my 6 year old has not had read to him.  My 8 year old on the other hand knows them well.

For read alouds to the both of them would you choose new titles that neither child has heard or repeat some of the others?  If we start in module 1 all but 1 of the books would be repeats for my 1st son.

You could read the Module 2 (or whatever module you’re on) for school time and then read the Module 1 literature to your 6yo before bed or during rest time or something. The 6yo would be essentially getting two modules at once, but it’s not going to hurt him. He would also probably enjoy undivided Mommy attention.

Or, you could read Module 2 to the 8yo at a certain time of day and read Module 1 to the 6yo at a certain time of day, giving both children Mommy time.

My last suggestion would be to read only Module 2 literature to both children and save Module 1 for when the 6yo is old enough to read them on his own (maybe around age 7 or 8).

    Hope that helps,

    Lindsey

Thank you for your suggestions Lindsey.  I think I will start with the one we haven’t read on Mod. 1 and then move on to 2.  I’ll try to read the others to my 2nd son as time allows.
