Curious who uses Queens LL, with what ages and what your thoughts are?

    Thanks

Hi there! I used Queen’s LL this past year with my 7th grader. Honestly? I didn’t care for it. I much prefer applying CM’s methods by choosing our own selections for copywork, dictation and picture study. I found the approach to grammar and spelling to be incohesive-the exercises are just too scattered for good retention IMO. We ended up tearing out all the picture study, copywork and dictation pages and throwing them away. We used the grammar and spelling exercises for review. We used SCM’s picture study instead. I LOVE the picture portfolios. 🙂

I used Queens LL at one point for a few children.  I wrote a post about why it worked in our situation.  I also wrote about other options we were considering.  We no longer use Queens LL.

I bought the copywork books and would not recommend them. They were full of typos (that my children would pick on) and there is really not much to them. Much prefer Spelling Wisdom.

I used the young ones with my current 1st grader back when she was 4yo and itching for “school”.  They were perfect for her – short and sweet.  However, I don’t really care to use them as my children got into “real” school work.  They seem too easy, too scattered, and too “cheap” (and yet very expensive to buy).

Hi!  I use Queens Language Lessons for my struggling 2nd grader (8 1/2)  and it works well with him.  I also supplement with Learning Language Arts Through Literature for a few things.  The slow pace with LL works well with him.  I have a 1st grader who does NOT like Queen LL at all so we are sticking to Delightful Reading and Bob Books.  I use Queen LL for my 3rd and 6th grader but again, I use it along with LLATL.  The books are pricey, however, I got them at a used HS curriculum fair.  Next year, I plan on continuing using Queen’s LL only with my 2nd grader going into 3rd.
