Does anyone have experience with MasterBooks’ “Principles of Mathematics”? Did you use it with a math-inclined child or a struggler? Was the teacher’s manual really necessary?

    Thank you! 💐

I used this with my 8th grade daughter. She loved it and did well with it. I read the lesson with her, did a few problems on scratch paper and she could do the rest. She is not math inclined at all, in fact, it’s what she struggles with the most. I highly recommend it and plan to use it with my son next year.

And yes, the teachers manual is necessary in my opinion. It’s the “textbook” portion of the program. The workbook would be incomplete without it.

Megan, what did your daughter use for math before this?  Did you think the transition into it went well?

She used something different for math almost every year, haha! For seventh grade, she used some of the Key to… series. She has also used Rod and Staff math. Yes, it was am easy transition. The Principles of Mathematics starts off very easy. The book has a conversation feel to it, and my daughter really enjoyed it. There are real life problems and examples and it showed my daughter that you need math in lots of real life situations!
